HSS is one of four ACGME-accredited four-year psychiatry residencies affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Our program combines the advantages of stable and expanding financial sponsorship by the VA Boston Healthcare System, training across a diverse consortium Harvard-affiliated sites to prepare residents for careers in any healthcare setting, and medium size (8 residents per year) for personal career development attention.

Our core mission is to develop the next generation of psychiatric leaders, well versed in biopsychosocial assessment and evidence-based care, both pharmacologic and psychosocial. HSS dedicates particular effort to providing opportunities for career development in research, teaching, and organizational leadership.
