Summary of Didactic Activities,  PGY I through PGY IV

HSS maintains a strong commitment to academically based seminar teaching by senior faculty to complement the individual and group clinical supervision that comprises the core learning experience in every residency.  We have set aside every Wednesday as our all-day Seminar Day, with short courses in the summer and semester-based academic seminars from September through June.

Beginning at 8:00 with Morning Report and continuing through the day, residents meet with faculty in small PGY-based seminars that cover the core scientific underpinnings of biological, psychological, and social aspects of human behavior and its disorders.  Additionally, several all-PGY activities such as Grand Rounds and Psychodynamic Grand Rounds, meetings with Chief Residents and Training Directors, and resident retreats take place on Wednesdays.  Several special academic days throughout the year also provide the opportunity for HSS residents and faculty to get together with residents and faculty from other HMS psychiatry residencies.  The major course offerings and special events are are summarized below, as well as on the Curriculum web pages for each specific HSS year.
